Coroner confirms identity of man killed in Gabriola fire

NANAIMO – The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man killed during a house fire on Gabriola Island Monday.

The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man killed during a house fire on Gabriola Island on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Wayne Barry McFetridge, 64, a Gabriola resident.

The Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire at 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 16 in the 800 block of Keith Drive. The house was fully engulfed in flames and after the fire was extinguished, McFetridge's body was found in the residence.

The coroner, Office of the Fire Commissioner and RCMP continue to investigate the death.
