Controversial media personality to visit Nanaimo

Ezra Levant, a TV anchor, newspaper columnist, author, talk show host will be in Nanaimo for one night only to discuss his experiences and current issues.

Ezra Levant, a TV anchor, newspaper columnist, author and talk show host, will be in Nanaimo later this month.

He will host an evening at Vancouver Island Conference Centre Sept. 23. Tickets are $100, which includes a three-course gourmet meal.

Despite his media accomplishments, Levant became the focus of controversy when, as publisher of Western Standard magazine, he chose to publish the Danish cartoons of Mohammed that sparked outrage in the Muslim community. His magazine was the only media outlet in Canada to run the cartoons.

That led to two charges of hate speech before the Alberta government's human rights commission, an experience that led Levant to write a book called Shakedown.

His latest book is titled Ethical Oil: The Case for Canada's Oilsands, published last year.

Levant has worked for the National Post, covering beats that include national politics, Supreme Court and the Middle East. Levant joined the new Sun TV all-news channel last spring as the host of a daily talk show.

Seating for Levant's visit is limited. For more information contact John Sherry at info@johnsherry.ca or call 778-928-8678.
