The News Bulletin’s annual Coins for Kids fundraising drive got a boost this week as Pleasant Valley Elementary School students began bringing donations for the Christmas season.

The students, which are collecting donations for a number of projects in December, included the annual coin drive which supports the Great Nanaimo Toy Drive and the Nanaimo Boys and Girls Club.

While the students will collect donations at their school, anyone can participate in the Coins for Kids campaign by dropping off donations of cash to the News Bulletin’s office at 777 Poplar St. Coin collectors are also available at local businesses across the Harbour City, including Quality Foods locations.

The annual coin drive began as Pennies for Presents 20 years ago and in that time, News Bulletin readers have donated more than $170,000 to charity. For more information on the coin drive, please call 250-734-4621 or e-mail editor@nanaimobulletin.com.
