An additional open house has been scheduled at Vancouver Island University to discuss the City of Nanaimo's proposed plan to build an events centre on the downtown waterfront.
Information will be available at the open houses and staff will be on hand to answer questions from residents. Remaining open houses include:
Thursday (Feb. 23), 6-8 p.m., at Harewood Activity Centre;
Wednesday (March 1), 6-8 p.m., at Beban Park social centre;
March 7, 3-7 p.m., at Vancouver Island University's Royal Arbutus Room.
Previously scheduled open houses have been busy and the city recommends those attending upcoming open houses spread their arrival over the first hour if possible.
"Given demand, we have expanded the schedule of open houses on the proposed events centre to include a seventh event on March 7 at Vancouver Island University," said Philip Cooper, communications and engagement director. "The attendance at all events has been high and we thank residents for their patience while waiting to enter some of the smaller venues."
With the wide range views, perspectives and ideas that surround the events centre, the city is reminding citizens to engage in respectful dialogue when discussing the proposed project. For more on the project, please visit www.nanaimo.ca.
