Chief Wyse will lead Snuneymuxw First Nation for another term

Chief acclaimed, but 18 candidates vying for 5 councillor positions in next month’s election

Snuneymuxw Chief Michael Wyse will be acclaimed as the First Nation’s chief for another term.

Snuneymuxw is holding its council election next month, but no nominees for chief allowed their name to stand except Wyse.

There are 18 candidates running for five available positions as councillors. All five incumbent councillors whose terms are expiring – Chris Good, Erralyn Joseph, Emmy Manson, Joseph White Jr. and Paul Wyse-Seward – are trying for re-election. Other candidates are Willard Brown, Denean Fred, Edward (Bundles) Good, Wanda Good, Adam Manson, Geraldine Manson, Charlene Paul, Terena Ross (Good), Gary Smith, Bridget White, Doug White II, John White and Eli Wyse.

There will be an all candidates’ meeting Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. at Snuneymuxw First Nation Recreation and Wellness Centre gym, the advance poll is Dec. 8 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at the gym and election day is Dec. 18 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at the gym.

Councillors who were elected in 2019 and still have another two years on their term include Kate Good, Darren Good, Regan Seward, Isaac Thomas and Bill Yoachim.
