Charges have been laid against two men accused of the armed robbery of Michael Hills jewelry store in Woodgrove Centre.
Jonathon Grant Javier, 28, and Justin James Dodd, 27, have been charged for the robbery, which happened Thursday at 8:42 p.m.
Both men are facing a number of charges, including robbery with a firearm, uttering threats, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police and will remain in custody until their next court appearance at Nanaimo provincial court Nov. 3.
Police also believe a man, described as white and elderly, might have been in the vicinity of the jewelry store and was taking pictures of the robbery while it occurred.
“Officers would like to speak with the person seen taking these pictures. This may assist with the investigation and potentially be a key piece of evidence”, said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman in a press release.
Anyone with information about this robbery or the identity of the man taking pictures, please contact Const. Tanaska Armstrong at 250-754-2345.
