Police in Nanaimo want to reunite found cash with its owner.

Nanaimo Mounties hope to return cash found in a donated purse to its rightful owner.

A volunteer at a Hospice Shoppe was checking a black purse prior to putting it out for sale, but when she opened up one of the compartments, she found just under $1,000 in Canadian currency, Nanaimo RCMP said in a press release.

A piece of stationary, which appeared to have been used for tracking spending, was also found.

The volunteer called police who attended and seized the money and purse.

As per policy, police will hold the money for 90 days and if its rightful owner isn’t found in that time, the finder is entitled to claim it.

The owner of the purse is asked to please contact Const. Samantha Caram at 250-754-2345.

The caller will be required to answer questions to ascertain if they are the rightful owner.
