Car crashes into McDonald’s on Bowen and Dufferin

Incident happened Saturday, March 3 at 10:50 a.m. at Bowen Road and Dufferin Crescent

A car crashed into the side of a McDonald’s in Nanaimo on Saturday morning.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue and B.C. Ambulance Service responded to the McDonald’s restaurant location at Bowen Road and Dufferin Crescent at about 10:50 a.m. after a Ford Fiesta drove crosswise through the drive-thru and into the side of the building.

The elderly driver wasn’t hurt, said firefighters. The car was damaged and towed and a wall of the building was damaged.

A McDonald’s manager said she was probably more startled than any of her customers, but everyone was fine and it wasn’t the first time that sort of thing had happened.

The drive-thru was closed while crews cleared the scene.
