Downtown Nanaimo will be awash in a  sea of blue, green and white Wednesday (June 1) as the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup final series comes to the big screen TV at Diana Krall Plaza.

Nanaimo parks, recreation and culture and the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association have teamed up to broadcast the series between the  Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.

All games are at 5 p.m. and broadcasts continue Saturday (June 4), Monday (June 6), June 8, as well as June 10, June 13 and June 15 if necessary.

Corry Hostetter, DNBIA general manager, said they want as many flag-waving Canucks fans as possible to fill the plaza.

“We’ll all be down there in our jerseys, hats and T-shirts,” she said.

Bleachers will be set up in the plaza, but the public is also invited to bring lawn chairs.

Chili will be served by donation at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in support of the 7-10 Club.
