Nanaimo RCMP are turning to the public to keep afloat their investigation into a found canoe.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, on Aug. 31, a local man found a canoe floating adrift on Brannen Lake, so he decided to bring the canoe to his house for safekeeping after it had been seen floating on the lake for three days.

The canoe is a 4.5-foot Explorer DLX, rust-coloured with grey plastic seats.

Anyone who has information about who owns the canoe is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file No. 2021-32986.
