ALEXIS TAYLOR MIDDLETON, 48

Occupation/background:

Patient service manager.

Why are you running for city council?

It is my turn to give back to this community. I have four children whom I have raised in the Nanaimo area. Between education, sports and beautiful hiking areas, we have enjoyed the best of Nanaimo and its culture. I wish to do my part in contributing and giving back to the community, showing my children the merits of true citizenship.

What will be your priorities if you are elected and what do you want to accomplish in the 15 months before the 2018 civic election?

Advocating engagement of youth and community in business to succeed as contributing thriving citizens.

Support low-income affordable housing initiatives.

Further cultivate sustainable economic growth and development in downtown and south Nanaimo.

With homage to an ever-growing and inspiring arts and culture, honouring the values of 2016-2019 strategic plan update.

Support development phase of waterfront walkway and support affordable foot passenger ferry service from Vancouver to downtown Nanaimo.

Maintain transparency of city council expenditures.
