Police are seeking a man who allegedly robbed the Qualicum Beach branch of TD Canada Trust Bank on Saturday afternoon.

Oceanside RCMP were called at approximately 2:30 p.m. to the bank branch at 222 W. 2nd Ave. in Qualicum Beach with a report of a robbery.

The man produced a note to a teller “indicating that he had a weapon and was demanding cash,” said Cpl. Jesse Foreman in an Oceanside RCMP news release. “The man was handed a sum of money before fleeing on foot.”

No one was harmed, and no weapon was produced, he said.

Police remained on the scene investigating the robbery late into the afternoon Saturday, while other members searched for the suspect.

He’s described as a Caucasian male in his 20s, about 5-foot-6, with a slim build and light brown hair. He was also wearing a green camo baseball cap, black hoody and dark sunglasses.

Foreman said the investigation continues, with evidence ranging from witness statements, video surveillance and forensics.

“No further information or specifics will be disseminated at this time as it may jeopardize the ongoing investigation,” said Foreman.

As of Monday, Oceanside RCMP had not yet found the suspect.
