B.C. Ferries drops fuel surcharge

NANAIMO – B.C. Ferries gives passengers a pre-holiday break by cutting fuel surcharge.

Mike Corrigan B.C. Ferries’ president and CEO, announced Monday that the 3.4 per cent fuel surcharge will be dropped as of Wednesday (Dec. 17).

Corrigan cited favourable market conditions and “hedging diesel costs” put B.C. Ferries in a position to cut the fuel surcharge.

BC Ferries still has an outstanding balance in its fuel deferral account, but the remainder continues to drop and forecasts indicate that the balance will be reduced to zero in the first half of 2015.
