An arrest warrant has been issued for a Ladysmith man that Nanaimo RCMP alleges is connected to a sex assault in Nanaimo.

Kynan James Krogel, 25, is wanted for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

The incident happened on the E&N Railway tracks near Hecate Street behind the Islamic Cultural Centre on Feb. 12 at about 4:40 p.m. when the victim was walking along the tracks. A man approached her from behind, pulled her pants down and ran off south along the tracks toward Hecate Street.

Krogel, wanted for one count of sexual assault, is Caucasian, 6-foot-1 and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has light brown hair, blue eyes and often sports a blonde beard, which he recently shaved off.

Investigators have not connected Krogel to an earlier sex assault that happened in the same area Dec. 3.

“We are, obviously, looking at him amongst others, but there’s been nothing definitive on that and the investigation still remains active,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.

If seen, Krogel should not be approached.

Anyone with information on Krogel’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, text 274637 with keyword Nanaimo or submit a tip online at
