All of Gabriola Island without power as winds bluster

About 7,500 customers in Nanaimo and on Gabriola experiencing outages

Another windstorm is downing more powerlines today and outages are again affecting the region.

All of Gabriola is now without power, according to B.C. Hydro. Earlier, the utility advised of outages in the north end.

Region-wide, about 7,500 customers are affected.

“We’re seeing B.C. storm impacts across VancouverIsland, Lower Mainland, and Sunshine Coast,” noted a social media post from B.C. Hydro. “Crews are responding and we’ll update on our mobile site as info is available. Remember, if you see a downed power line, it’s a danger. Stay back 10 metres and dial 911.”
