Nanaimo’s Erickson Roofing has a long tradition of community involvement. Blake Erickson started his company small, and through delivering a great product matched with great customer service, it grew.
As it grew, Erickson Roofing also maintained a group of dedicated employees including Gaetan Conelly who chose to develop his career in the industry at Erickson.
One rung at a time
Working your way up the ladder in the roofing business is not just literal! Gaetan began his career back in 2006, first as an installer, then as foreman, and then doing estimates and project management for Blake.
When Blake was getting closer to retirement, he didn’t want to see the business that he had built handed over to a big-box-type outfit. His community spirit and involvement meant he wanted to keep it local and Gaetan, a long-time, dedicated employee who knew the business from every angle, was the perfect choice to take over so Blake could retire properly in 2017.
Four years later, things are looking up! Gaetan has continued Blake’s excellent customer service and attention to detail as well as the tradition of giving back to his community through important charitable donations to organizations such as The Child Development Centre.
Gaetan has a personal attachment to this amazing organization which helped his own daughter with a minor ankle adjustment when she was just little. No one else could offer a solution, and it was through The Child Development Centre that the family found the help they needed.
In the spirit of paying it forward, Erickson Roofing has stepped in for the charity, providing a brand new roof (the second part to be done this fall!).
Committed to quality, safety and workmanship
Everyone needs a roof over their heads and replacing the roof on your home or business is an investment that needs to be done by experts. “The roof is essential – it covers everything you’ve worked for and often gets taken for granted.”
Erickson Roofing has continued to grow and change with the times and now offers not only traditional roofing materials such as cedar shake and fibre-glass shingles, but also flat and sloped roofs, asphalt and membrane systems, roof coatings and metal roofs.
A community of employees
Gaetan’s investment in his community extends to how he treats his community of employees. Roofing is a tough and potentially dangerous job, and Gaetan ensures that safety comes first for his employees and the folks they’re working for.
All of his installers are Red Seal journeymen or taking part in the Roofing Contractors Association of BC’s Apprentices Program. Worksite safety is paramount for employee safety and Gaetan has a full-time National Construction Safety Officer who attends every worksite ensuring the best possible outcome for employees and customers alike.
