Getting older doesn’t mean slowing down - and the Young at Heart Seniors Expo in Nanaimo is a perfect example of how to embrace aging with energy, connection and purpose.
The free event is coming to the Country Club Centre, located at 3200 North Island Highway, on Wednesday, May 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering an afternoon of learning, connection and new ways to thrive in one’s senior years.
More than 30 local exhibitors will be on-site, offering expert advice and engaging experiences across a wide range of topics — from mobility aids and in-home care to sustainable whale watching tours and travel planning.
“We’re thrilled to bring Young at Heart to Nanaimo,” says event organizer Felicia Galea. “It’s all about connecting seniors with services and opportunities that support healthy, independent and joyful living.”
Whether it’s a free hearing check from Amplifon, tips on sleep health from MedSleep and AvantSleep, or legal advice from Johnston Franklin Bishop and Mid Island Law, attendees will have access to a wide range of professional guidance throughout the day.
“This isn’t just about aging — it’s about aging well,” Galea says.
Alongside the exhibitors, the expo includes fun touches to keep things light-hearted: games, door prizes and opportunities to socialize. As Galea notes, it’s this balance of information and enjoyment that makes the event so special.
“You’ll come for the resources, but you’ll stay for the conversations,” she says.
Admission is free. Attendees can register in advance at eventbrite.ca or simply show up ready to explore.
