Nanaimo recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day

Speeches, music, vendors and more filled Maffeo Sutton Park on June 21

National Indigenous Peoples Day was recognized on the waterfront in the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

The Mid Island Métis Association hosted National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations Friday, June 21, at Maffeo Sutton Park. There were speeches and musical entertainment at the Lions Pavilion, axe-throwing, a selection of First Nations and Métis vendors, and food trucks.
