UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP report missing senior found dead

Police say 69-year-old was dealing with significant personal issues

Nanaimo RCMP had asked for the public's help to try to find a 69-year-old man reported missing Sunday, July 7. He was found dead the next day.

UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP have reported that the 69-year-old man reported missing on Sunday, July 7, has been found deceased.  

The body was located in Nanaimo at approximately 8 p.m. Monday, July 8.

His family has been notified and the B.C. Coroners Service was also advised and will continue with its investigation.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help to find a senior who has not been seen nor heard from since yesterday morning.

According to an RCMP press release, Nigel Paterson, 69, was last seen at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, and was reported missing to police later the same day.

The missing man is experiencing significant personal issues and there is concern for his safety and well-being.

He is described as six feet tall, 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue button-down short-sleeved shirt and brown loafers, and was carrying a small multi-coloured duffle bag. He does not have access to his personal vehicle. 

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
