The Regional District of Nanaimo has announced $267,500 in rebates available for residents looking to add environmentally friendly improvements to their homes.
In a press release, the RDN said it is accepting applications for amounts ranging from $150 to $1,500 for numerous improvements for water and green building.
Among rebates for all of the regional district are ones for irrigation and soil improvement (up to $675), rainwater harvesting (up to $1,000), upgrades to wellheads (up to $650), well water testing (up to $300) and septic system improvements (up to $700). Intake for these rebates begins Wednesday, Jan. 15.
The RDN is offering woodstove exchanges with rebates of up to $1,500, although City of Nanaimo residents will not be eligible as the city has its own program.
Among rebates available only for RDN electoral area residents are home energy assessments (up to $350), fossil fuel-to-heat pump replacements (up to $1,000), residential electric vehicle charging stations ($150), renewable energy systems ($250) and $250 for those who want to use graded site-cut timber for construction.
