Peter Richmond of the Vesta Fire circus troupe plays court jester for passers-by Sunday afternoon on Commercial Street at the Greatest Street in Canada Street Party, hosted by the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association.

Matthias Bjarnason, 7, is watched over by Dan Struthers, sport fishing ambassador, as he dumps a bucket of rainbow trout off the new fishing float at Diver Lake. The $21,000 float replaces an old float at Diver Lake Park and was a joint project by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C., the Habitat Trust Foundation and the City of Nanaimo. It is part of the Freshwater Fisheries Society’s Fish In the City program to make fishing more accessible.

Staff at the city’s parks, recreation and culture department are looking for ‘the’ Nanaimo photo.
