Photos that capture city sought

Staff at the city’s parks, recreation and culture department are looking for ‘the’ Nanaimo photo.

Staff at the city’s parks, recreation and culture department are looking for ‘the’ Nanaimo photo.

If you have an image of people enjoying city parks, taking part in recreational activities or exploring our local culture, you are encouraged to submit it to be showcased on the cover of the next Activity Guide.

Three selected images will be placed on the city’s facebook page and fans will then choose the winning picture to grace the cover of the upcoming fall/winter guide.

“Featuring a community photo on the cover of the Activity Guide is a great way to highlight our parks, events and programs,” says Suzanne Samborski, senior manager of recreation and culture. “The images we have received in the past have been outstanding.”

Images must feature at least one person and a maximum of three people enjoying Nanaimo’s parks, recreation programs or cultural activities. Images must be high resolution (minimum 350 dpi) and of high quality to qualify.

Photos should clearly represent the fall/winter seasons and what Nanaimo’s lifestyle is all about. People pictured must also sign photo releases.

Images can be submitted online at http://cnan.ca/ivveud or by dropping off a disc at any city recreation facility.  A full list of the contest guidelines can be found online.

The contest will close Wednesday (June 15). For more information please call 250-756-5200.
