COASTAL LIVING: Island housing sales up

Housing sales activity across Vancouver Island was up  eight per cent in May compared to last year, while average sale prices were comparable.

The average price of a single family home sold within the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board region in May was $342,395, remaining close to average price for May 2012 at $343,662.

Nanaimo’s average sales price was up two per cent to $357,443 and the city saw a 12-per cent increase in unit sales from May last year.
