Christmas in Nanaimo: Country Club invites Santa to breakfast

NANAIMO: Children and grandparents get special day at shopping centre.

Santa Claus knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and is starting the Christmas season off right with a pancake breakfast at Country Club Centre.

The Santa breakfast takes place Sunday (Nov. 25) from 9-11 a.m. Tickets are $5, available at the mall’s lotto centre. All proceeds go to the Nanaimo Child Development Centre.

It’s then off to his workshop Monday (Nov. 26) until Christmas Eve where Santa gets to hear all the Christmas wish lists of Nanaimo’s good little boys and girls.

Santa will be available for photos, Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2-5 p.m.; 6-7:30 p.m. (late nights begin Dec. 3); and Sundays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.

Special hours include: Dec. 23, 9:30 -10:30 a.m.; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 2-4 p.m.; Dec. 24, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.

Grandparents and grandchildren can enjoy a special night Dec. 13 from 5-7:30 p.m. with free entertainment, games, crafts and goodies. Please visit countryclubcentre.com for a complete Grandparent and Me event schedule.

Pets can get in the picture with Santa Dec. 4, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18  from 6-7:30 p.m. All profits benefit the Nanaimo and District SPCA.

Country Club Centre and the Wave Radio celebrate the true spirit of Christmas during Caring and Sharing Day Dec. 13. for non-profit groups.

Donations go to: Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank (food donations or cash); Nanaimo Toy Drive (unwrapped toys or cash); Salvation Army kettle drive; and Nanaimo Community Hospice Celebrate A Life tree.

The mall’s wooden toy sale takes place Dec. 14-15 with wooden trucks, trains and other handmade toys available.  Profits benefit Nanaimo and area boy scouts.
