Families affected by autism can have fun and connect with needed resources at an upcoming Autism Expo.

The free family event was a collaborative effort between the Nanaimo branch of the Autism Society of B.C and the TrailBlazers, a group from Leadership Vancouver Island 2010-11 program.

The expo features more than 35 organizations that provide therapies, services, support or equipment.

“We hope to reach out and provide families with resource as well as an enjoyable afternoon for the entire family,” said Alexandria Stuart, Vancouver Island branch coordinator for the society, in a press release.

The Autism Expo takes place April 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. at the Beban Park Auditorium.
