Nanaimo Community Hospice Society to launch mobile unit

Society holding open house on Aug. 28

The Nanaimo Community Hospice Society has got some new wheels.

Later this month, the non-profit organization will reveal a newly acquired mobile counselling unit – a 37-foot motor home that has been converted. Society board members will be on hand during an open house event to discuss the benefits of the new mobile counselling room and what it means for the organization.

The addition of the mobile unit now gives the society, along with professional counsellors and trained volunteers, the ability to bring its child and youth grieving program to schools, libraries, gathering centres and homes, according to a press release, which notes that the program is unique in Canada.

The open house will be Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. at 1080 St. George Cres. For more information, please visit www.nanaimohospice.com.
