Youth artists are getting the chance to curate their own exhibition at the Nanaimo Art Gallery over the long weekend.

The Dazzle Camouflage summer art immersion program for youths aged 15-19 is holding a pop-up exhibition Sept. 1-2 at the gallery’s Art Lab.

The participants learned about contemporary art from artists and curators and explored the gallery’s current Fielding Road exhibit.

“They have been encouraged to try out different approaches to art-making and discover innovative ways to share thoughts and ideas while exploring the gallery’s current inquiry question: What stories do we tell?,” noted a press release from the gallery.

Anyone is welcome to attend the pop-up exhibition’s opening reception Thursday, Sept. 1, from 7-9 p.m., or the regular gallery hours Friday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
