It’s not often fans get to perform in a concert with a musician they love.

For young Nanaimo musician Jayden Holman he’s getting that opportunity Thursday (Nov. 22) when he performs as a guest artist during Jason McCoy’s The Perfect Gift Tour at the Port Theatre.

“It’s pretty exciting,” said Holman, about the performance, adding he will have the opportunity to speak with McCoy before, during and after the concert.

During his guest appearance Holman will perform some new original songs. Holman is attracted to many musical genres, but lately his work has taken on a country-pop vibe.

“With writing it just kind of happens to me. I’ll sit down and the words just kind of flow,” he said.

Holman recently won the youth category in the PNE’s Star Showdown contest in August with his rendition of Van Morrison’s Into the Mystic. That win garnered him the opportunity to perform during the Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions National Conference in Winnipeg. The musician is currently working on songs for a debut album, which doesn’t have a release date yet.
