Writers can gain insight into tax breaks

NANAIMO - The Federation of B.C. Writers presents a tax tip event at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Library.

Writers seeking advice on how to save money on their income tax can get some pointers at the upcoming presentation by the Federation of B.C. Writers.

The organization hosts the event Taxing Writers: Tax Tips with George Opacic, who co-founded a magazine for builders of private aircraft and has written numerous short stories and film scripts. He also works as a ghost writer.

The session gives tips on what income tax deductions writers and other artists have through the Canadian Revenue Agency.

Taxing Writers is Feb. 3 at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Library from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event is free but people must pre-register. To pre-register please call 250-753-1154 ext. 238. For more information about Opacic please go to www.bcwriters.ca/opacic.
