A professional singer and teacher offers performers a workshop to overcome anxiety before stepping on stage.
Christine McMahon, who has career experience on Canadian and German stages, teaches a variety of techniques to reprogram thinking, control nerves, channel excitement and build self-confidence to perform to full potential.
These skills benefit not only performers, but also public speakers.
The workshop is open to students and performers age 14 and up. Participants should dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or blanket.
The Inner Art of Performing workshop takes place April 10, 1-5 p.m., in the ensemble room at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music, located on Selby Street.
Since 1977 the Conservatory of Music has provided high quality instruction in voice and in a wide variety of individual instruments in both the classical and jazz traditions, as well as organizing wind and string ensembles, orchestral and recorder groups, as well as the Nanaimo Youth Choir.
Cost of the workshop is $35; $30/members.
Registration is required. Please call 250-754-4611 for more information.
