A former Vancouver Island University student has had her work recognized south of the border.

Earlier this month, creative writer Shelley Stein-Wotten saw her online web series All My Pants win three awards at the Los Angeles Web Series Festival, which were held on April 4 in California.

All My Pants won the award for Outstanding Student Series, Outstanding Series Premise and Outstanding Score.

“We were just over the moon to be recognized that many times for our little series,” Stein-Wotten said.

Stein-Wotten hails from Nanaimo and graduated from Vancouver Island University’s creative writing and journalism program in 2011.

The Nanaimoite then attended the Vancouver Film School, where she studied writing and graduated in 2013.

The web series, which was co-written by Stein-Wotten and Dan Christensen, focuses on a pair of blue jeans named Gene, who is trying to get ahead in life.

In addition to the show’s success in California, All My Pants was named as an official selection of the Korea Web Festival.
