VIDEO: Parksville man captures drone footage of beach proposal in Australia

Noah Russi looking for overhead shot of own artwork when he caught special event

While recently flying his drone on a beach in Australia, a Parksville man captured a newly engaged couple’s special moment.

In an email to PQB News, Noah Russi wrote he was flying his drone along Tallows Beach in Byron Bay one early February morning, to capture an overhead shot of his own sand art, when he saw the couple.

“It was just a fluke situation when I was capturing my artwork that I saw a guy on one knee, down the beach, and was able to capture a beautiful moment,” he wrote, adding it was the first time he had ever captured something so unexpected before.

“I rushed down the beach and got their info afterwards to share the moment… He was thrilled.”

Russi moved to Australia approximately two years ago, right before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but plans to move back to Parksville in March.

“Everyone can expect some big sand murals at Rathtrevor Beach in a month’s time,” he wrote.

Russi’s Instagram account, username @LivesForLines, shows a variety of his artwork, including illustrations, photography and sand murals.
