One of Canada’s largest comedy tours is coming to Nanaimo.

According to a release, the JNT Comedy Tour will feature three of the nation’s fastest-rising talents, who have collectively amassed more than 100 million views on YouTube and TikTok.

Stand-up comedians Andrew Packer, Jacob Balshin and Sean McDonnell will perform at the Nanaimo Bar, 2-75 Front St., on Wednesday, May 18, at 8 p.m.

“The JNT Comedy Tour has been selling out shows throughout Alberta, Ontario, and Newfoundland for the past year as COVID-19 restrictions tightened, loosened, tightened, and back again,” read the release. “Throughout it all, the notable special guests have been winning fans and making a name for themselves from coast to coast to coast. Audiences are treated to a dynamic evening of comedy spotlighting the complementary styles and unique perspectives of the tour roster.”

Packer, a stand-up comedian, improviser and content creator, founded the JNT Comedy Tour in 2016, noted the release. His credits include performances at Just for Laughs and the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. In 2019, Packer was a finalist in the 40th annual Seattle International Comedy Competition.

Balshin, a comedian and podcast host, was featured on SiriusXM and CBC’s LOL, and was named Toronto’s Best Upcoming Comedian at the I Heart Jokes Awards in 2018. He was also nominated for Breakout Comic of the Year in 2020. Balshin is currently preparing for a taping for CBC’s New Wave at this year’s Just For Laughs Northwest.

McDonnell is a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene with his energetic storytelling and goofy observations, noted in the release. Hailing from Vancouver, McDonnell signed with 604 Records at 22 years old. His debut comedy album, All in My Head, went to No. 1 on iTunes.

Tickets for Wednesday’s performance at the Nanaimo Bar can be purchased online through www.eventbrite.ca.
