It’s been a long time coming for singer/songwriter Bobbi Schram, but after seven years of hard work she’s ready to release her newest album, Window Day.

“Everybody has been so supportive,” Schram said. “All my friends, family, musicians, people who haven’t heard me before but come to my shows and appreciate the music. I am thankful for that.”

To celebrate the occasion, Schram will be holding her album release party on Sunday (June 14) at Bowen Park, where she will also perform alongside Brad Hawkes and Kenny Brault.

“There is some easy listening tunes,” Schram said about Window Day. “There is a little bit of a bluesy song in there and a little bit of a sultry valentine song and I even have a country and some folk. It’s a little bit of everything, but no heavy metal and rock and roll.”

Schram has been involved with music ever since she was a teenager learning to play the guitar.

When the Nanaimo resident reached her 20s she became interested in piano.

“I really started teaching myself that [piano] in my 20s,” Schram said.

Window Day was recorded at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock and was produced by Schram and Pat Glover.

Schram said that she typically doesn’t write music from her own perspective.

“I very rarely write about myself,” Schram said. “I am not an introspective writer. Sad love songs, I don’t go there. I just write whatever comes to my head. I get touched by certain situations … I write about things that come along in life.”

Schram performs at the Bowen Park amphitheatre on June 15 at 3 p.m. For more information, please visit www.bobbischram.com.
