Randle sings songs from the heart

NANAIMO - Summertime music series begins downtown Thursday (Aug. 8).

People in Nanaimo’s downtown can enjoy their lunch this summer and get serenaded thanks to the return of the Summetime Music Series.

The series runs today (Aug. 8) to Aug. 30. Live music is at the China Steps every  Thursday and Diana Krall Plaza every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jeffrey Randle performs this Thursday at the China Steps. He grew up on Vancouver Island and started playing the guitar when he was six.

Writing simple songs from the heart comes naturally to him, said Randle in a press release.

“My songs relfect my roots but they are also expressions of my present journey through life as I do draw from my experiences along the way,” he said.

On Friday (Aug. 9) the Herbicidal Maniacs are rocking Diana Krall Plaza.

The Herbicidal Maniacs consist of Nanaimo musicians Steve Palen, Dan Dube and Brent Redberger.

Downtown restaurants have also created special take out lunch specials in celebration of the music series. This week’s participants are Acme Food Co. and Pirate Chips. Tables and chairs are available on a first come first serve basis.
