Plight told in fairy tale format

Fringe Flicks series features film by Finnish director

TheatreOne’s latest Fringe Flicks movie, Le Havre by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, is a contemporary story about illegal refugees told in the fashion of a realistic fairy tale.

The film circles Marcel Marx, an aging bohemian artist determined to extend a helping hand to a young African immigrant hoping to make his way to England in a shipping container with other illegals. The film screens Sunday (Jan. 22) at 1, 4 and 7 p.m., and Monday (Jan. 23) at 4 p.m. at Avalon Cinemas. Tickets $12.
