NinjaSpy performs an all-ages show at the Mt. Benson Legion on Saturday (Aug. 21).

NinjaSpy shares their blend of metal, ska, grunge, reggae, funk and jazz with an all-ages Nanaimo crowd.

The band starts its cross-country tour in support of its new album No Kata on Vancouver Island, performing in Nanaimo Saturday (Aug. 21) at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 256 on East Wellington Road with The Perfect Trend and Synapse.

“The No Kata EP is a real game changer for us,” said guitarist Joel Parent. “Stylistically it stretches the boundaries of our genre-mashing moniker, incorporating some of the most outlandish sounds we’ve ever thought up or accidentally stumbled upon in a creative process.”

The new album is complemented with a graphic novel due out at the same time.

Two of the other bands on the bill are also promoting new albums at the show.

The Perfect Trend, a Nanaimo band, recently completed a new album called In Severance as well and is continuing its extensive touring schedule this summer and fall.

Synapse, a Victoria band, is also celebrating the release of an album.

The concert doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets $12 at the door.
