Nanaimo’s Black History Month virtual gala happening this weekend

The Nanaimo African Heritage Society is ensuring that its annual Black History Month gala happens in some form.

The society is hosting an online gala this weekend, with a live-streamed event on Saturday, Feb. 26, and an opportunity to watch the replay through Sunday, Feb. 27.

According to a press release, some of the performers and speakers include Ballet Victoria and musicians Diana Braithwaite, Chris Whiteley, Kenny (Blues Boss) Wayne, Dee Daniels, Joshua Holloway, Omabuwa Dede and Gina Williams. Ay Lelum - The Good House of Design is also participating, as are speakers Pamela Sylvan and Rosemary Sadlier.
