A partial reading of a new play involving trauma and the effort required to break free will be held at the Harbourfront Library.

Local playwright Ward Norcutt will host the half-hour reading of A Baker’s Dozen, a semi-autobiographical work that deals with mental illness, drug addiction, familial sexual abuse and suicide, according to a release.

“This play concerns multi-generational trauma and the work and courage one must employ to escape it,” noted Norcutt in the release.

He will read at the Vancouver Island Regional Library’s Harbourfront branch, 90 Commercial St., on Thursday, June 9, at 7 p.m. After the reading there will be a forum for audience talk-back.
