Featured Nanaimo painter likes to ‘go crazy’ with colour

Grant Leier is Art 10 Gallery’s featured artist for February

This month Nanaimo artist Grant Leier is displaying new work at Art 10 Gallery.

The exhibit includes paintings in his major styles: wildlife, traditional illustrations and vintage graphics.

Leier said in his work, no matter the imagery, “colour is of the utmost importance.”

“I really like taking a lot of liberties with colour, using colour in an unexpected way and pushing the boundaries,” he said. “I’ve never, ever made any attempt to make something realistic. I just think it’s a lot more interesting to go crazy.”
