Country Idol contestants at the Queen's will compete for the chance to advance.
Nine contestants will compete and perform live during the semifinals Thursday (Feb. 16), accompanied by the Boothill Boys band. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance from the Queen's or $10 at the door. The judging panel, consisting of Graeme Tait, Bonnie Kilroe, Ryan Singer and Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay, will decide what performers go on to the finale.
The finale is Friday (Feb. 17) at the Queen's. There will be a silent auction to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters from 7-9 p.m. and the contest begins at 8 p.m. The idol contestants compete from 8:15-10:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony is at 10:55 p.m.
Darkhorse, featuring Paul Laine, performs from 11 p.m. to midnight and Boothill Boys perform from 12:30-2 a.m.
Tickets to the finale are $15 in advance from the Queen's or $20 at the door.
