The Nanaimo Concert Band will once again take to the stage at the Port Theatre – this time for a spring performance.
Under the musical leadership of Jill Mont, the band will present a collection of tunes which will include marches, lyrical works, pop tunes, movie excerpts, a polka and more. There is something in the program for all ages and all musical tastes.
The ever-popular Bugler’s Holiday, which is far from a holiday for the musicians, will feature the trumpet section.
A selection of Hoagy Carmichael tunes will take the audience on a trip down memory lane with some of his most well-known hits, and a medley from the animated family film The Incredibles will appeal to audience members of all ages – and will certainly resonate with the younger crowd.
Now in their 151st year of bringing music to Nanaimo, the group is looking forward to welcoming the community to the Port Theatre and presenting an afternoon of concert band repertoire.
The show starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2. Tickets are available and can be purchased at the theatre box office, or through the online website www.porttheatre.com.
Further information on the band’s history, as well as stories, photo galleries of rehearsals and performances, a list of events and membership opportunities can be found at http://nanaimoconcertband.com.
