Susan Juby won the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award for her novel The Truth Commission.

Nanaimo author Susan Juby received the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award for her novel The Truth Commission.

The award is from the Canadian Children’s Book Centre Awards and came with a $5,000 prize.

Winners were announced at a gala event in Toronto in early November.

The Truth Commission focuses on the character Normandy Pale who turns to art and writing to uncover secrets at her school.

The TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award was given to author Melanie Florence and illustrator François Thisdale who share the $30,000 prize.
