A cross-Canada tour in support of their new album will bring a Mexican alt-rock band to Nanaimo.

Lost Nebula will play the Globe Hotel on Saturday, Aug. 6, as their last stop.

According to a release for their tour, the band’s new album, Created in the Image of God – released July 15 – is their fourth and “shows distinct maturity without losing the desire to try new things.”

The group’s approach to metal, which infuses melodic choruses with “hardcore” breakdowns, growling and clean vocals, also uses elements of pop, alternative metal and progressive rock. In their songs, they cover the topics of discrimination, dehumanization and the growing dependency on technology.

“All the music created by Lost Nebula is a reference to human emotions and feelings…” noted the release. “It goes from melodic progressive metal to power ballad, making the distinctive sound of the band. Strident guitars and bass, tight and complex rhythm parts along with a warm female voice and something that has never been done before in the band, growl vocals added to one of the singles.”

The group went into Created in the Image of God with an open mind in order to tear down boundaries and closer observe the complexity of progressive rock in hopes of repacking the genre into a more “commercial version.”

Lost Nebula considers the album its most original and pure form with ambitions of impressing old fans and captivating new ones.

The band promises to bring a unique show to every venue over the course of their tour, regardless of venue size and will provide an immersive, memorable and epic experience, the release noted.

Tickets for the Aug. 6 show will be available at the door.
