The Ladysmith Little Theatre is presenting a musical combining two classics for its upcoming holiday production.

Bill Johnston’s Dorothy Gets Scrooged, a blend of The Wizard of Oz and A Christmas Carol, will premiere on Nov. 23 and run until Dec.10.

“The story is a mash-up between Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz when she grew up and became mean and miserly like Scrooge,” said Mike Dietrich, director of the play. “There’s a lot of familiar songs that have new lyrics, Christmas songs and other favorites that have been adapted for this piece, so I think people will really enjoy those songs and enjoy the adaptation of them.”

The “irreverently hilarious” musical will tell the story of Dorothy’s journey as she is visited by three “vaguely familiar” ghosts who try to show her the errors of her ways by presenting her past, present, and future.

Evening shows start at 7:30 p.m. and will be staged Nov. 23-25 and Dec. 1-2 and 7-9; matinees will start at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 and Dec. 3 and 10. Tickets are available at
