Jazz concert in Nanaimo will feature violin and flute

A jazz concert in Nanaimo over the long weekend will feature a violinist and a flautist front and centre.

The Kit and Matt Eakle Quintet will play Simonholt on Sept. 4 as part of Quadrangle Music’s ‘Best in Canada’ jazz series.

The brothers – jazz violinist Kit and flute player Matt – will be joined by Nick Peck on keys, Ken Lister playing the bass and Hans Verhoeven on drums.

According to a press release, Matt is world-renowned as a 30-year veteran with the David Grisman Quintet and and has recorded and shared stages with Jerry Garcia, Linda Ronstadt, Larry Vuckovich, Jon Hendricks, Stephane Grappelli, Vassar Clements and others. He has also recorded two jazz albums. Kit has recorded and toured with guitar player Howard Alden.
