The start of spring is being celebrated with a day of music, dance and play at the park this coming weekend.

The Crimson Coast Dance Society is presenting the Hub City Bounce Back, a free event at Maffeo Sutton Park on Saturday, March 19.

Families and youths are invited to “jump into spring” and “feel the creative energy of our city coming back to life after a long winter,” noted an event press release.

There will be live musical performances by Kutapira and Bandeira Parker and also DJs Chris Bigelow and Fruit Stand. A ‘dance cypher’ in the Lions Pavilion will invite dancers into the circle one after another, and after that, there will be a ‘silent disco’ distanced dance with “projections and lighting to create a beautiful atmosphere.”

Family activities starting in the daytime will include distanced games, a costume parade, and more music and dancing. Food trucks will also be on site.

“We are excited to be celebrating equinox, fun, play, lightness, hope, spirit raising, breath of fresh air, creating connections in our community,” the release noted.

Most events will be between 3-8 p.m., with the silent disco from 8-10 p.m. The bands play at 3:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. and the dance cypher is at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free, though donations are invited. For more information, visit www.crimsoncoastdance.org.
