The regimented notes of military music will fill the Port Theatre during an upcoming performance by the B.C. Cadets Honour Band.

The band performs a free concert in Nanaimo Tuesday (March 19) at 7:30 p.m.

Lieut. Camil Bouchard, former music director of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Pacific Fleet Naden Band, leads the band during its performance.

The Cadet Honour Band has 55 musicians from the Royal Canadian Sea, Army and Air Cadets selected from across B.C., including cadets from Nanaimo.

Asked to perform with the honour band is a “coveted” prize amongst the 1,600 cadet musicians, which perform in 71 cadet bands around the province. Musicians range in ages from 14 to 18 and many play in their community or school bands as well.

The band will be complemented by pipes and drums during the performance.
