Folk singer offers all-ages show

Music has been a passion for Lauren Mann for as long as she can remember.

From the early years of classical piano training, through the formidable teenage years when she grew tired of playing classical songs and turned to jazz training, she is now a full time recording and touring artist.

Her first album, Stories From Home, is a compilation of the stories of Mann’s beginning that tell the tales of years past and are a prelude of things to come.

“Writing a song is like telling a story. The words, melodies, chords, phrasing, intonation, they are all part of the story,” Mann said.

“That’s what I’ve been learning lately, and I believe it’s helped me write better songs.”

Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk perform at the Buzz coffeehouse on Uplands Drive June 17 at 6 p.m. The concert is free and open to all ages.
