Evolve Nightclub has banded together with musicians to raise money for families affected by the Fort McMurray wildfire.

The club is hosting Fort Mac Benefit Concert June 2 at 8 p.m. at Evolve Nightclub, located at 241 Skinner St.

Tali Campbell, Evolve Nightclub’s marketing and assistant manager,  said everything from the ticket sales to tips will be donated to the Red Cross.

Campbell said the club hopes to raise as much money as it can for the cause.

The musicians and staff are also donating their time for the event.

“We built a live stage. This is our first time having a live band in Evolve Nightclub,” said Campbell. “It’s going to be great music.”

Campbell said it’s great that so many people have pulled together to raise money for families displaced by the Fort McMurray wildfire.

“It’s fantastic on all levels,” he said, adding that at the end of the day it’s about helping people.

Entertainment for the evening includes Jayden Holman, Wise Youngblood,  Jordan Aaron and Danielle Marie.

Nanaimo musician, Holman said as a musician, if there is something as “horrible” that happens as the Fort McMurray wildfire and he has a way to help through music, he will.

“For me it’s my way to contribute,” he said. “You really see how many people come out and rally together to help out their neighbours.”

Holman said he’ll play some fan favourites and a couple of new songs that he has been working on.

“We’ll make it a good night and it will be fun ... this is to raise money for Fort McMurray,” said Holman.

Tickets are by donation, with a minimum $5 contribution accepted at www.ticketsnap.ca.
